Oct 1, 2009 - Gregory Auner, electrical and computer engineering professor and Smart Systems and Integrated Microsystems director, has received a $300,000 grant from the University of Michigan for smart micro-sensor development and integration for the Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center Ground Robotics Research Center. Auner’s research will continue the development of emerging optical and chemical sensors for detection of improvised, or “homemade,” explosives. The sensing system will be integrated into robotic systems to be used in a modern combat environment, nuclear power plants and federal building and army bases.
